Appropriation art has been in the news lately, from legal cases such as the Richard Prince vs. Patrick Cariou case or Sheperd Fairey vs. the Associated Press on the photo that Fairey used in creating the iconic Hope poster of the 2008 election, to the proposed rules for SOPA, which would have criminalized much of our online culture of image and video sharing.
The BFA Visual and Critical Studies department is hosting The Case for Appropriation: A Panel Moderated by Joy Garnett to explore these vital issues. The panel will include Virginia Rutledge, Robert Storr, and Oliver Wasow.
WHEN: Tomorrow, Thursday, February 16, 7pm
WHERE: SVA Theatre, 333 West 23 Street
