Artist’s statement:
“One of the things most fascinating to me about SL is the presence of poseballs and animations that are meant to convey the kind of casual nuances we take for granted in RL interactions. Their existence is an acknowledgement that communication is somehow incomplete without, for instance, a slight tilt of the head or the placing of one’s arm on one’s hip. Using a collection of these animations, I placed my avatar in a variety of situations that, when photographed, convey a narrative simply by her surrounding and gesture. I chose appropriate clothing and settings for the gesture, taking a screenshot of it, and then creating a watercolor painting of the screenshot. I like the potential of this project to play with different levels of “reality” – the communicative aspect of the gesture, the fiction of the narrative, the physicality of the watercolor.”

The exhibition will also include works that capture the SL landscape, and two pieces depicting another virtual world (habbo hotel).
