“Talking in the Library” hopes to bring activity and attention to our wonderful library by hosting periodic events in a variety of formats (readings, artist discussions, live music, etc.). Please come on *Thursday October 11, from 4:30 – 5:30pm* and help make “Talking in the Library’s” inaugural event a successful one. It will feature two poets followed by an open “mic.” (See below flyer for bios)

Sheila Maldonado grew up in Coney Island between Surf and Mermaid Avenues, across the street from the Atlantic Ocean. Her family is still there when they’re not in their house in Honduras. She is now an amateur Mayanist, a backup singer in a Latin music school band, and president and sole member of the Björk Fan Club, Washington Heights Chapter. Her poems have been published in Rattapallax, Meridians, and Promethean. She received an M.A. in Creative Writing from CCNY and teaches creative writing in NYC public schools through Teachers & Writers Collaborative.

David Pemberton works at the SVA library as the periodicals and pictures manager. Need help finding an image? Ask him, because this is one image clerk who is eager to help. Please look for his work in Lungfull! n. 15, and forthcoming in Lungfull! n. 16, as well as Promethean Literary Journal (2003 & 2005), the anthology chapbook Earshot: The First Offenders, Words n. 64, audibly on compact disc: The City Within, and in “New York City Streets in Poetry” edited by David Quintavalle and Victoria Hallerman.
