Vivian Maier – Queen of the Selfie Emerges Posthumously


Vivian Maier has burst onto contemporary photography scene in a big way in the last couple of years. But it turns out she never exhibited, much less sold, her work during her lifetime. Like another Chicago resident, Harry Darger, her work made its way into public consciousness after being discovered posthumously. With its wide array of self portraits and snapshot aesthetic, Maier’s work is quite of the moment. Now a documentary, Finding Vivian Maier, is coming out to feed the budding Maier industry. We will get it in the library when it comes out on DVD.
