New Books: Illustrated Children’s Books

We’ve got some beautiful new children’s books in the SVA Library this summer. They’re featured on the small round table in front of the new books shelves:

Callie’s family is moving to a small apartment in the city, and so many of their possessions are spread on the front lawn for a yard sale.  Eve Bunting and SVA alum Lauren Castillo portray an event at once familiar and difficult, making clear that a home isn’t about what you have, but whom you hold close.

WhereDoesKittyGoWhere Does Kitty Go in the Rain? by Harriet Ziefert, illustrated by Brigette Barrager / PZ7.Z487 Whe 2015

This kitty-centric mystery includes rain-centered facts to create a charming fiction/nonfiction picture book. As readers search for Kitty, they’ll also discover what different animals do to enjoy, or avoid, a rainy day. Harriet Ziefert’s rhyming couplets pair with Brigette Barrager’s lush art to make a combination that is sure to please young readers and adults alike.
