Featured Resource: One Search

The SVA Library subscribes to almost 40 different databases including Art Source, ARTstor, EBSCO’s Academic eBook Collection, JSTOR, and more. Did you know that there’s a way to search most of these databases at once?

It’s called One Search, and it’s the default search option from the “Everything” search box on the library website:

Entering a search in the Everything search tab will open a new browser tab with your results in the native One Search interface:

From here, you can use the filters in the left hand column to narrow your results down by Full Text only, Source Type (books, magazines, academic journals, etc), Subject, Content Provider (that is, individual databases), and more.

One Search is a great tool when you want to retrieve the most comprehensive results for your search. Because it’s searching across multiple databases, you’ll receive many more far-reaching results than if you searched one individual database on its own. If the scope of your research is large, or if you’re just starting your research and want to get a picture of the content available across many databases, One Search is a great place to start.
