RIP, Maria Sol Escobar, the artist better know as Marisol, who died on Saturday, April 30th in Manhattan. Her fusion of Pop Art imagery with pre-Columbian folk art caused a stir when she first began exhibiting in New York in the late 1950s.
We’ve created a display at the front of the library to highlight her life and work. Books on display include:
Marisol: September 20-October 21, 1995
Marisol, recent sculptures : March 4-28, 1998, Marlborough
